Siena Hill Country
Siena was perhaps the most pleasant surprise of Italian cities visited. While nearby Florence has famous art housed in museums, much of the artistry and craftsmanship of arch-rival Siena is on display in the open.
The following images were taken during a leisurely afternoon stroll through this charming medieval town. With camera in hand, my adrenaline ran high as I feet the creativity of artists of old (and new).
Although one can't see the gates in this image, Siena was a fortified Tuscan city.
Atop three large hills and within the walls of the town center, Siena feels proud and protected.
