Castellina in Chianti
On our way up to the Etruscan tomb of Montecalvario (6th century BC), we could see the town of Castellina Chianti. As with many remaining ancient Tuscan villages, it sat high on a hill and was surrounded by a fortress of protective walls and a guard tower.
