Packard Twelve Hood
On a trip to Naples, I stumbled on a car show. With no experience shooting autos, I thought it would be fun! Sometimes your first attempts are the most creative because you are not over-thinking the "rules" or recreating previous images, but going on just gut-instinct.
The vehicle looked pristine, but really needed a background to become an image. Despite many people, motorists, and unattractive clutter around, I was able to isolate a portion of the car against a school across six lanes of Interstate 90. Most of the school was in the shade, creating a dark background to contrast the lighter portions to which your eye is first drawn. The colors also complemented nicely.
At f/4 the depth of field rendered the background out of focus enough to appear as if the vehicle was in the driveway of a hotel or mansion.
