Read More1950's DeSoto
My father isn't a serious car buff, but he always knew the year and model of old cars driving down the road. "Look, there's a 1954 DeSoto" or "There goes a '57 Studebaker" to which the family would roll their eyes... but I'd always look. Usually what I saw was an old boxy car and could not understand the allure.
For my father, perhaps it was a fond recollection of this mid-priced Chrysler model or just the sense of something lost from pop culture. But times change. Something familiar can suddenly disappear... For the Desoto, it vanished in 1961.
Now, I can appreciate his musings... This vehicle had flawless chrome bumpers and trim with a beautiful pearl finish. It was so reflective that a polarizer and Photoshop were necessary to remove a number of distracting reflections. The owner went to great lengths to appear that it just rolled off the lot. A high-key black and white filter was used to separate important details.
I wished my dad was in Florida to see this one.
